A Water Management Board is being established in the Walla Walla Watershed planning area, which is a subsection of Water Resource Inventory Area 32, under authority of Second Substitute House Bill 1580 for Pilot Local Water Management. The nine member Water Management Board will be established as the Walla Walla Watershed Management Partnership. Three Board member positions are vacant, to be appointed in 2009 for a two-year term: one member must be a water rights holder; one member must represent local environmental interests; and one member must be a citizen at large.
To be considered for Board membership, applicants must be a resident of the planning area and must submit a signed and completed separate application for each position for which an applicant is applying. Applications and additional information are available at www.wallawallawatershed.org or by contacting the Walla Walla County Watershed Planning Department at 509.524.5216. Public meetings will be held to discuss Board member responsibilities and answer questions: June 29, 2009 at 7pm at Columbia Conservation District (202 South 2nd Street, Dayton, WA) and June 30, 2009 at 7pm at WWCC Water and Environmental Center (500 Tausick Way, Walla Walla, WA).
